Practical Task - Sound
This is a practical task looking into sound and sound effects for our horror film opening. I looked on sound cloud for suitable sound effects that would fit into our genre and sound very effective with our idea.
Below I found two suitable sound tracks that could be edited and cut down to make it smaller and are still both very effective. They are completely different tracks as the first one starts off with banging effects which then go into a piece that builds up, this is effective because it startles the viewer and already creates tension. It has that eerie effect by sounding misty and echoey like a ghosts voice but it also set with ringing noises and what seems to be a quiet scream effect. This would be very effective when the girl is walking through the woods to give the viewer an insight that something is about to happen. Its quite a slow piece with a variety of effects which bring the piece together.

This sound track is completely different to the first one because instead of it being quite general with the sound effects used this one focuses on the noises usually made by small children playing with dolls, so its more specific and can be used when our girl is playing the woods for example swinging round the tree with her teddy. It has that typical glockenspiel that is used in horror movies and the pitch changes from high to low. This makes it creepier and would have a better effect as well if the girl was walking through the woods. Also in the background it has a crackling noise that is also effective because it adds onto the chime from the glockenspiel which makes it scarier.
Both of these soundtracks are different but they both conform to soundtracks that are similar to the ones shown in horror movies. Even if we don't use these tracks for our film opening they have still given me more of a chance to experiment and see what is typical for a supernatural horror movie.
