Pixar is a computer animated film production company known for producing children's, Disney films.
Examples of Pixar films:
- Toy Story (1995, 1999, 2010).
- Finding Nemo (2003).
- Cars (2006).
- Monsters Inc (2001).
- The Incredibles (2004).
- Ratatouille (2007).
- Up (2009).
- WALL-E (2008).
Pixar began in 1979 and in 1986 became a corporation. In 2006 The Walt Disney Company bought Pixar and it now has 15 feature films, the first being Toy Story, and the most recent being Inside out. The studio have earned 15 Academy awards, 7 Golden Globe awards, and 11 Grammy awards among many other awards and acknowledgements.
Pixar do not change their opening for different films as it stays the same throughout each film.
Below is an example of Pixar's opening before the film, 'Lifted'.
Deconstruction of a school made company ('Confession'):
The genre of this video made is horror.
What I like:
- In this video, I like the fact that the shots are all in dark environments because it sets the tone of the video and puts the audience in the correct mood.
- Also, I like the long shots of the scenery because it creates an eerie atmosphere.
- I like the way the production logo appears on the screen because it looks quite real and professional.
What could be improved:
- Even though the production company logo appears the be professional, the actual video looks quite fake.
- The quality of shots could be improved as they appear to be quite shaky.
- The actors aren't talking loud enough in order for the viewers to hear them.
- The whole video seems to be quite boring as there is no actual storyline.
How it is made:
The production company logo that they created looks quite simply as it's just text saying the name of the production company, 'red carpet productions', on a plain red background (a set of stairs) with a yellow outline. This was probably very easy to make however it was effective at the same time as the name of the company links with the image that accompanies it.
Sound, mise-en-scene:
Sound - There is some non-diegetic, slow paced, violent music at the start of the video. There is also non-diegetic dialogue as there's a narrator speaking in the background. Whilst the narrator is talking, there is also some violent music in the background which gets more fast paced and turns into piano music throughout until the end of the video.
Mise-en-scene - In this video, the fact that it is set in a church and there is scenes based on a church/gravesyard show that it may be about something mysterious and it could be about death.
