Evaluation of the Preliminary Task - Filming - Natasha McGill

Evaluation of the Preliminary Task

Filming

I am going to be evaluating the filming part of our preliminary task. We only had an hour to film the prelim so we knew we were limited on time and due to the task having to be completed in school; there weren’t a variety of different locations that we could use. So we thought of an idea in which included a typical geek doing her homework, when a ‘cool’ girl comes over to her and takes the mick out of her. The scene of Charlie (bully) outside talking to Georgia (nerd) the diegetic sound worked well as we could hear them speak, as one of our main worries would be that the wind would blow over their voices. A problem we encountered was that due to the automatic doors opening, our match on action didn’t have many shots involved. Also one of our actors Mehrabi, wasn’t present at the time but came later once we had started so instead she helped film.
If we got to do it again, we would choose a location else where within the school, at which Charlie could open the door herself to show a variety of different shots, also we could have made it bit longer and have more different camera angles in general included. Also at the start of the video the pan of Charlie walking out the door could have been smoother, as it was hard to move the camera due to it being a bit stiff, but we could have retaken that a few times to see if it came out clearer then.

This was when Charlie was about to walk out the door and it shows a medium shot of her talking on her phone.

This was part of the match on action when Charlie was walking out the door, about to head over to Georgia.

This shot was a close up of Georgia’s face, clearly showing she is concentrating on her work.

This is a  two shot also within the 1800 range of them talking.

This was an over the shoulder shot, looking at Charlie’s reaction shot to Georgia doing her homework.
