Se7en analysis - Natasha McGill

Se7en analysis

In the film opening credits in Se7en, the way that the credits are shown are very effective because the music fits in very well with how the credits are shown, they are in time with when the names appear on the screen as they flicker left and right, up and down.  This makes it more effective as it portrays a scarier tone due to writing being in bold and rather blurry and flickering all the time. The way the credits were edited was very effective because they had the names of the producers and then they had videos of objects relating to the film.

The use of a bible being used was effective because the film is based on the seven deadly sins, so by using this in the opening credits and by cutting words out like God given an indication of what the film was going to be about.

There are some photos of when two images are used at once, so two images were shown but one was slightly opaque so we were able to see one clear image and another image underneath was slightly opaque. This happened when in the credits at the start a bible was being highlighted but we saw it being highlighted in two different places but at the same time.

The images used were very creative and it tied in well with what the film is going to be about. The use of using words like 'will' and 'God' tells the audience that the film is going to include religious aspects. Also the use of different colours, even thought most of them are black there are images when red is presented which could be symbolised as blood it looks effective.

The fact that there are difference images apart from the black backgrounds with the titles at the start the odd different shot looks effective this one showing a hand, which could suggest that there is something to do with identity and a mystery or it could just indicate that one person is being effected. This would make the audience think about the film would be about and this could foreshadow what happens in the film.

The use of different colours like red has connotations of blood and could suggest something bad will happen. Red also has connotation of the devil so as it is relating to God the devil could be included. The words God gives away a clue about what the movie is going to be about.
