We originally planned to film our horror film opening on the 20th December at 9.00am. However, we then had to reschedule our filming due to us not having a tripod and the outfits for the horrific figure had not arrived in time. Therefore, we eventually managed to film our opening on the 10th January at 9.00am, meaning that all our film HAD to be completed in the space of that one day.
What went well:
Throughout filming our horror film opening, there were many things that turned out well. The weather on the day was a main benefit of the day, because originally it was meant to be pouring down with rain, however the weather was dry throughout the day. Also, the location in the woods was very good because it wasn't too dark and wasn't too light at the time we filmed it, this meant that all our shots managed to appear clear and even if they were too bright, we're able to darken them on final cut pro. Whilst filming, we were able to find a good location in the woods where the shots were able to appear quite eerie and isolated. The actress, Zoe, was able to keep a straight face in most of the shots and the outfits on the actors looked well and they managed to suit our theme of psychological horror.
Problems encountered:
Throughout the day, there wasn't many things that were holding us back, however there were some problems. The first main problem was the worry of whether we would get all the filming done in that day and whether the weather would be okay. Luckily, neither of these things were a massive issue as we managed to get the filming completed within a few hours. In the woods, we came across many people on walks and taking there dogs out for walks, meaning that we had to delay some of our shots in order to not get any unwanted people in the background. The dogs from these walkers also kept coming up to us meaning that it delayed the filming by even more. Also, the shots started to become quite repetitive throughout the filming so we had to walk to different parts of the woods in order to find different locations for the shots. We were unable to get a black veil as we were unable to find one that wasn't overly expensive, therefore we had to change some of the shots and they didn't go along with our storyboard.
Even better if:
Our filming could've been even better if we managed to get all the equipment needed in order to add the little details in which could've made our film opening better than it is. Also, this would've enabled us too stick to the storyboard which then would've meant we could've gone with our main idea that we wanted to do. This means we would have been able to stick more to the theme and made our horror film opening more psychologically horrific.
These images below show us filming the horror scenes below:
This first one of the right shows us in our isolated spot in the woods and we're all standing behind the camera about to film the actor walking past up the alley way.
This photo on the left is similar to the others and it shows her walking through the woods looking possessed whilst dragging the doll along with her, this was quite a simple shot to film.
