Type of actors:
The actors in horror films are normally families (nuclear), especially in supernatural horrors. There is usually a mother, a father and two or three children; one of them usually becoming possessed.
This screenshot from the 'Conjuring' movie shows a photo of the family living in the haunted house, which shows that they are just an ordinary, innocent family.
There is normally a theme throughout supernatural horrors, where the innocent family having moved into a new house which is usually in a rural area and the house is normally very big. There is usually a spirit or ghost living in this house, which then ends up possessing the most innocent child who then tries to kill the rest of his family.
In the 'Sinister' film, there is the one demon/spirit that has possessed a group of children. This group of children then try to possess the little boy every night whilst the rest of the family are sleeping. These characters are made to look very pale and scary whilst their attitudes are very eerie and mysterious. The screenshot above shows the demon who haunts the house, who appears frequently throughout the film. He is made to look dead and terrifying.
The screenshot to the left shows the group of possessed children telling the innocent, young boy to stay quiet.
Also, there is sometimes a 'detective' or someone who can help get rid of the spirits that belong to that house. These actors are usually people who have experienced the situation in the past and they usually appear to be quite emotionless and shocked. This photo shows the married couple who have been in both the 'Conjuring' movies, in the first one they were the ones who experienced their child becoming possessed, however in the second one they were helping the other family resolve it.
This final photo shows the two little boys in the 'Sinister', which shows them watching TV and shows that they're just an ordinary family. Using a family as the actors in horror films, makes it seem more realistic and it makes it seem as if it can happen to anyone.
