Deconstruction of Location- Charlotte Wilson

Location Deconstruction from The Women in Black
I found the locations from the Women in Black film really interesting and perfect for a horror movie location.

This image of the house i really liked as the branches covered over the camera making the house look secluded and showing us a lot of secrets kept within the house as its being covered. The angle of the camera is low showing us the house is very powerful, lighting is also dim being a convention of horror movies.

In this image we are shown the island where the house is located on  a separate island and the one car driving towards it, we are showed this in an aerial shot so we are able to see the whole setting. Clearly seeing how isolated the house is in the middle of no where there is no life around the island all bleak and plain relating with death.

The use of the massive cross gives us the impression of religion being a common representation for supernatural horror movies. The location again is very isolated and the cross is on its own, we also then wonder why the cross is there in that setting giving us a sense of mystery.

This final image shows us the main house used throughout the film, this extreme long shot shows us a full image of the house and its surroundings. Abandon houses like this are often a common representation within horror movies giving us the impression that it is haunted by ghosts, the fog around it also makes us believe this. The way the man is standing in front of the house looking very small compared to it shows us how inferior he is to it. This location is also very isolated as there is no other houses around it. The house also looks very run down with overgrown plants around it giving us the impression no one has been there in a long time and has been around years. The lighting is also very dim, dark and bleak also being representation.
