School made production company 'Twisted Pictures' - Natasha McGill

School made production company 'Twisted Pictures'

What I liked:
I like the fact that a black background was used with white writing as this makes it stand out
The effects of the red wire as it entwines round the letters
The font of the of the writing, as it is quite transparent and it looks like someone has crotched the bottom which is effective as it portrayed a scarier tone
   Once the dagger had
The way it was done looks really professional
I like the music at the beginning because it matches well with what is being shown
The use of the woods made it more spooky and by using the woods as a location already implies that something is going to happen
During the video, there were shots when it looked like the spiritual person is watching the others, and close up we hear her breathing really close and from her point of view it went all blurry as it followed her movements

Criticisms:
When the wire is wrapped round the words at the beginning it makes it hard to read them
The start looks very professional but this contrasts to the rest of the video because it isn't as professional
It was done in the woods but it was really light, so they could have filmed some scenes when it was slightly darker or could have edited it to look darker, this would then have a scarier tone and would create more suspense and tension
Some of the camera movements were really shaky when they should look more professional if the movements were still

Sound, Mise-en-Scene and Camera Angles

Sound: it was very effective with a mixture of diegetic dialogue and non-diegetic sounds. The use of adding in bird tweets are effective and useful due to them being in woods. Although sometimes it was harder to hear what they was saying it was still good. The non diegetic music off the girl singing as it echoes was very good and sounds professional. Also at times when it looked like the possessor was watching the gang we could tell by the shaky movements and the breathing close to the camera. It portrays a scarier and creepier tone which builds up more tension is to what is going to happen.

Mise-en-Scene: the location of the woods was well chosen as its suitable for their chosen genre which is horror. The props used like the alcohol bottles could show that they aren't thinking straight which is why they may be easier to be possessed as they are more vulnerable, due to their incapability to think straight.

Camera angles: all camera angles and camera movements used were very well chosen. There was a different range of close ups, long shots and even at different heights, for example when the phone was on the ground ringing, it was effective how the camera was on the floor and we could clearly see her phone. The shaky movements were effective at times when they were being watched as it made it feel more realistic.

The genre portrayed in this video is Horror and is set in the woods which conforms to conventions of horror movies.
