This first image shows the typography of the title in the horror film, ‘Prom Night’. This relates to the theme of horror because it is the colour red; which represents blood, and it appears as if it has blood coming down from each point on the letters. This shows serif text because there is a slight projection finishing off a stroke of the letters, this makes it seem more sharp which then relates back to the horror genre. The red on black looks very effective, and the font type links to the text that is normally shown on jock t-shirts in high school films which then relates to schools and fits in with the 'Prom' genre.
This title from the ‘Sinister’ looked quite old and the shadow effect off the letters makes it look more rough and haunted. This has also used serif which also shows it’s a common feature of horror film typography, serif is originally used in the bible which is why it is commonly used in supernatural and psychological films due to there being a priest that tires to get rid of the spirit/haunted being. On this title, there is text underneath saying ‘Once you see him, nothing can save you.’ This has used sans – serif which actually makes the text look smaller as if the audience weren’t meant to see it as they weren’t meant to be saved.
