Deconstruction of Typography
Insidious 3
The typography used in this is very effective because the letter I is red which has connotations of blood and gore suggesting danger. The repetition of the I is repeated three times like it is the third chapter which is very effective and stands out. The font is very clear with cuts in some of the letters so it looks like its been cut and torn apart which makes it look unique. This conforms to horror movies as it looks rather wrecked. The word 'chapter' below is effective because it looks creepy how some of the letters are transparent and the bold causes the letters to stand out clearly.

Ominous
The luminous effect of the typography makes the title appear supernatural and spooky, this corresponds to the colour of the face on the mummy, creating a continuous subhuman effect. The colour white is also chosen, this has connotations of ghosts and spirits hinting to the themes of the film. The scratched out effect of the font portrays a dangerous setting, as it appears that even the font cant escape the danger that is present in the film.
Dead silence

The title in 'dead silence' is all capitalised and in a bold font. The typography inside this title suggests a bold statement that is being made, due to the effects of the text. Despite the simple choice of the colour white, this creates a powerful effect, indicating to the presence of a supernatural theme. The large space between the text relates to the title of the film 'dead silence' as it creates the picture that the title is being read very slowly, which emphasis of the words, increasing their importance. The blurred effect of the letters also suggests the loss of connection, which often creates a sense of powerful supernatural presences and the loss of communication creates an isolated fearful effect.
The white of the text with the suggestion of the red house suggests the red is the most important part of the title, which refers to the house. The 'house' has red typography which has very bloody connotations which suggests the precedes of danger within the house. This is supported by the blood splatters which suggests to gory events that could happen inside the house. This contrasts and stands out against the normal white text, which suggests everything is safe, apart from the house.
666 the Devils child

The use of the numbers '666' suggest the devil is present inside the film. The idea of the presence of the devil is supported by the font chosen for this. The font looks as if its on fire, with the uneven edges creating a sense of being burned. This is often associated with hell and the devil, which links to the genre of the film. The 'Devils child' text is in a simple black font. Black has connotations of darkness and death, as well as being simple and clear to read, suggesting that this is a message that needs to be seen.
Having looked at different movies and their typography's, they are quite plain even though they are effective because of the way they have been set up. This would mean for our title to conform to supernatural horror our title should be in a basic font but with special effects we could make it look effective.
