Practical Task - Photoshop Experimenting - Natasha McGill

Practical Task - Photoshop Experimenting
I decided to work on some editing of photos using photoshop. I started off using a basic photo of an acorn and played around with the brightness, contrast, the colour and various other tools. This was so I can become more familiar with using photoshop and I can learn the techniques needed in order to help and use when we make our film opening. Levels and exposures were used to slightly change the photo but as a whole looking effective. I started off by slightly darkening the photo from a yellow colour to a dark orange.

Here the stalk looks really dark and the ground is quite hard to see, this is because it has turned quite dark and so is quite hard to see, but this way it looks better.

For the final product I was using the tools on the side above the different layers and found different colours which I played around with moving some colours like green higher and the blue lower so all together it has a nice misty effect. I also added on another blue layer at the end which brings the photo together.

This was the final photo:

Here I decided to try another image and my aim was to try and make the plant stand out even more now. I started off my adding some layers, starting of with experimenting with the brightness. I made the image look slightly darker as this seemed to look more effective with the way the flower looks. I then played around with the colours because I wanted the flower to change colour but still have the dark pavement behind. As another way to try and make the flower stand out I used the blur tool and smudged the pavement so it wasn't so clear and it was harder to see the gaps.

At the end I used an invert tool, which completely changed the colour of the flower as it went from green to orange and then I preferred the purple colour. Also the invert tool changed the pavement as it is now darker at the back and lighter at the front. The lines have become more visible but the main feature in the photo is the flower because it is purple it is a bright vibrant colour and so therefore stands out in the photo.

This was the final photo:

By editing these two images has given me more confidence in using Photoshop which could come in handy if we choose to do our title as I will be able to make it look really effective.
