Deconstruction of Actors in supernatural horror movies

Paranormal Activity 3

The main actors in the film are two little girls who are victims and are being brain washed and possessed by the supernatural presence. By showing the two little girls on the front cover indicates that they are going to be an important part of the movie and by showing them looking into the mirror already create a creepy atmosphere partly due to their facial expressions and how they are just staring into the mirror almost like they know something is going to happen, they are just waiting for it to occur.                           

Here we see a little girl standing in the doorway. Usually children go into their parents bedroom if they have have a nightmare but this time the girl herself just stands there staring into the room for a while. She looks down at the floor wearing a white nightdress when she walks into the room, walks around in a circle and then just walks out of the bedroom. This creates an eerie atmosphere because the viewer wouldn't expect a small child to slowly walking into their parents bedroom and then walk out.

Here we see a very young looking girl who was looking into the mirror but has turned around. The effective thing in this photo if the fact the little girl has turned around but her reflection is still looking at her so it has turned around. From the mirrors refection we also see another girl standing holding onto a door which looks open, like it is letting something out or about to go inside herself. The little girl holding the door is another girl because she is wearing different clothes and it looks like she is wanting the girl staining in the mirror to go with her. This is rather suspicious because the dark lighting makes it scarier and the fact they are alone is questionable to weather they should be going inside.

The Possession

The cover of this film shows a girl standing on edge, lifting her head high, like she is trying to make communication with someone above her. The fact that a box is open with light escaping and the fact that the girl is reaching up towards to light shows the viewer that they are going to be linked. The girls clothes are all ripped and are dirty which conforms to the horror genre and the fact that she is young also conforms. In the image below as well the girl is shown as to be vulnerable by being possessed into keeping this box which inside hides a demon and when she opens it, she turns into a monster. The image below shows the girl to be defenceless and helpless.

The way the girl is shown makes her look possessed and scary. The fact that she is little and has been possessed conforms to the genre of supernatural horror. The way she is standing there with her head slightly tilted down staring makes it look creepier, like she is going to attack someone. Her backcombed hair adds to the effect that she is messed up.  

Our film opening Actors 

For our film opening we are going to use a little girl who is going to be seen as the victim, who will be seen as vulnerable and the one who is going to experience being possessed. For the actor we could either use Charlie's cousin who is 8 called Gracie or Georgia's cousin who is 13 called Zoe. Both of which look young and so would be suitable for our actor and it would still conform to our genre, as we tend to see little girls as the victim.
Both the girls have dark brown hair which is useful because usually the girls in the movies have drown hair. This make them look slightly darker already because they haven't got the typical girly girl hair of being blond. With the use of make up and clothing, we could make the little girl look really possessed and like she has been messed around with.
