Practical Task, Typography - Natasha McGill

Practical Typography

I decided to try out typography so I could gain some experience and would be more knowledgeable so when we make our film opening I could make the title look really effective and conform to the genre of horror. I started off by finding online a free typography maker at which I experimented around changing the font to make it look spookier which would have a bigger effect. I used the title of another horror film to experiment with.

I liked the font chosen below because it looks like something is dripping off the letter which was when I changed the colour to red so it could represent blood being dripped off. So I altered the colour to a darker red as then it would look more mysterious and I stretched the writing so instead of being short I made it look taller, like it is standing on edge. This would be a good title for a film because the way the typography is laid out it could indicated that the film could be on edge and unpredictable.

After editing it on a typography maker, I started editing it in Photoshop and all I done in here was experiment with some of the effects and clicked on all the different effects down the side and it turned out to look very effective, with the way the blood drips with the black effects in the title.

This was the final product:

Having done this on Photoshop it has given me more experience of how the use the software so if we was to create our title for our film opening on here, I am familiar with how to use the software and this makes it easier to produce a more effective title.
